Welcome
Firstly, I’d like to give a warm welcome to Shepley First School. I am so excited to be working in Reception with your children this year and I have lots of lovely things planned over the coming months that I hope they will enjoy, so I’m really looking forward to getting started on all of the fun we are going to have! In class we will be joined by Mrs Gee every day. Mrs Heywood will be joining us on Friday afternoons.

Reading days:
Over the coming weeks, once the children have settled into school, we will begin our whole class phonics lessons. They will learn a new sound each day and begin to build up their phonic knowledge. As your child becomes confident with blending words they will start to bring home a Read Write Inc. blending book for extra practise. In addition to this, the children will also be given the opportunity to select a book from our Reading Realm. The Reading Realm has a breadth of exciting books, that your child can choose to take home and enjoy.
PE/Muddy Puddle Days
Please remember that on our Muddy Puddle and PE day they need to come to school dressed in appropriate PE/ Muddy Puddle kit. The list of kit can be found on the Muddy Puddle / PE dates on the newsletter or here.
